Linda Belle Ormiston
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Exray Cemetery, with Gary Williams officiating.
Linda Belle was born May 31, 1935, in Wellington, Texas, to George Belle Groves and Ava Lee Moring Groves. She spent most of her years growing up on a small farm in Huckabay, Texas, with little sister, Lida Nell, and three rascally brothers - Lee, Bill and baby brother, Bob. The children worked hard and played hard, as children who grow up on a farm do. Most importantly, they knew the value of family and they loved and cared for each other. The childhood antics of Linda Belle, her sister, and brothers were on her mind until the day she went to be with Jesus. The Groves kids lived a hard life, as did many children who grew up in the Depression, but they always had each other and together they made the best of it.
During her high school years, Linda Bell had many accomplishments including beauty queen, guard on the first-time state playoffs girls basketball team, and salutatorian of her senior class.
Later, Linda Belle and younger sister Lida Nell went on to attend Tarleton College. The girls worked at Jake and Dorothy's to pay for their tuition and rent. That's when Linda met and later married "Bud" Earle Edward Ormiston of New Brunswick, N.H. He had just finished a tour of duty in the Korean War.
The love of Linda's life were her two children, Scott Edward Ormiston and Julia Ormiston (Gonzalez), and Linda's granddaughters, Kristin Ormiston, Jessica Ormiston, Railey Belle Gonzalez, Reagan Nell Gonzalez and great-granddaughter Harleigh Ormiston.
Linda is survived by her brother, Bob (Rita) Groves; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Groves and Mary Groves; son, Scott (Tammy) Ormiston; daughter, Julia (Roland) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Kristin, Jessica, Railey and Reagan; and great-granddaughter Harliegh. She is further survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by the siblings she adored, Lee Groves, Bill Groves; and sister, Lyda Clark.
