Marilyn Jean Thiel
May 18, 2020
Marilyn Jean Thiel, 90, passed away in Mineral Wells, Texas, on May 18, 2020.
She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to George and Ruth Quasius in 1930. In 1948 she graduated from Sheboygan North High School. She was described as being "the life of the party, on with the dance and mischief as her middle name."
Marilyn married Carl Thiel and became a military wife, which allowed her extensive travels worldwide. She loved to bowl and was honored to be a member of the Mineral Wells Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. Marilyn was a talented seamstress and took up tailoring in Japan. She was very proud to work as a teacher's aide in the early 1970s. She had an artistic nature and later in life took up cake decorating, which led to the opening of Party Land in Mineral Wells.
She was a loving wife, devoted sister and awesome mother to Jeff and Terry. Her many friendships over the years were very important and special to her. We would like to thank all of her friends, neighbors and caregivers who made an extra effort to try and make her last years better.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey, of Mineral Wells; daughter, Terry and husband, Ken Dingwall, of Sugar Land, Texas; sister, Judith Stockinger and partner, Sam Zelpe, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; seven nephews; one niece; and eight grandnieces and grandnephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Carl; parents, George and Ruth; sister, Darlene; and brother, Richard.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic the family will have a private service at Memory Gardens in Weatherford and plan to have a "Celebration of Life" event when it is safer for all to attend.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
